M.Ed Special Education

M.Ed Special Education is a two-year course. This program is providing special and advanced skills and training to teachers to educate children with physical and mental disorders viz. hearing impairment, visual impairment, locomotor disability, autism, etc.

Apart from this program common methods of teaching and pedagogy, students during the course of M.Ed in special education are familiarized with techniques and methods through which they can help dumb, deaf, blind and mentally retarded students.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Ed Special Education

1. Candidates who have completed a bachelor’s degree namely B.A, B.Sc, B.Com or Master’s degree in Social Sciences/ Humanities from a recognized university.

2. Candidates must hold a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in their 10+2+3 examination.

Admission Process

1. Colleges publish notice of admission on their website from June when most Indian universities would have finished degree exams.

2. Candidate to apply for each college, as each college considers each mark the cut-off mark.

3. Some private colleges and deemed universities perform their counselling process by conducting their university-level entrance exams.

4. Some colleges require a minimum of 50% aggregate in the qualifying examination.

5. Candidates who qualify for the test are called for an interview before the final seat allotment.

After completing this course candidate job profiles suitable are Education Consultant, School Teacher, Content Writer, etc. The average salary offered to candidates with BEd Special Education ranges between INR 3-5 Lakhs per annum.

Some candidates prefer working with NGOs as Counsellors or as Primary School Teacher or High School Teachers or tutors in educational institutes or as Content writers with media houses. Some prefer going for master's i.e. M.Ed in special education from national or international institutes.
